The Ordnance Survey Namebook for the parish of Aberdour has this description of Pitjossie:
Applicable to a huge arch formed by decayed rocks, situated on the shore about half a mile north of Bankhead farmhouse. "Upon the estate of Auchmedden is Pitjossie, a Stupendous natural Arch, through which the tide flows at high water." New Statistical Account "Pitjossie is about a mile west of the Old Church. This is a Stupendous natural Arch" Buchan By The Rev. [Reverend] J.B. Pratt M.A.
If you go towards this arch, you would see through two further, and much smaller arches, aligned SE/NW. The further one is Tardight Eye and the middle one is unnamed. Low tide photos of these are
NJ8865 : Natural Arches,
NJ8765 : Natural Arch and
NJ8765 : Natural Arch at Pitjossie. They are all navigable by kayak near high tide - as in this picture - and low swell. They are all like flying buttresses on a cathedral - with the cliff as the main body, and a curved pillar down into the sea.
