The £22m bridge over the A63 Castle Street links the city centre with its waterfront and marina. It was officially titled 'Murdoch's Connection' after a public vote chose to name it after the Scottish doctor Mary Murdoch, who became the city's first female GP in 1896.
Work on the 60m-long structure started in late 2018 but construction was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. Lights in the canopy constantly change, cycling through a rainbow of colours.
