13. Hibernacula Notice at Boug's Meadow
This notice, erected by Prestwood Nature, has the following wording:

13. Hibernacula

The River Misbourne (whether dry or not) is an
important riparian corridor. Frogs, toads and
newts use it and find food. We regularly see
grass snakes.

Small mammals, shrews, voles and mice live in
the meadow. In winter, these animals look for
places to hibernate and we built two hibernacula
in the raised bank in 2017 for their use.

River bank vegetation has now covered the various
discreet entrances and exits but we can see
evidence of small mammals making their homes.
