Looking west in St Andrew's Church
The south arcade (on the left here) dates from around 1400 but along with the rest of the church was reconstructed in 1863 when the north aisle was added, reusing some of the old material. The tower arch ahead is late 14th-century work though the tower had to be rebuilt in 1894 after collapsing. Under the tower can be seen the sallies for the six bells. Two of these are medieval and a third, cast at Bury St Edmunds in 1666, is inscribed "Sancta Caterina ora pro nobis" and is a replacement for a more ancient bell with a similar inscription destroyed by William Dowsing in 1643. Three more bells were added to the peal around the turn of the 21st century: one acquired from the neighbouring church of Hardwick in TL3758, and two newly cast at the Loughborough foundry.
