NJ5767 : Natural arches near Redhythe Point

taken 6 years ago, near to Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Natural arches near Redhythe Point
Natural arches near Redhythe Point
The arch in the centre is the same one as in NJ5767 : Natural arch near Redhythe Point, but from the SE side. The rather precarious one on the left is only visible from this side at sea level. The high arch is the same as seen from the cliff path on the opposite direction in NJ5767 : Redhythe Point. The arches together may have been known as 'The Bow' - which would account for the naming of 'Bow Rock' just to the NE of this stack and 'Bow Cave' - which is probably the small fissure/rift cave just on the right at the far side of the tall arch in this photo.
