The village of Troutbeck is spread along the valley, mostly on the west side, with a few clusters of farms and houses.
The ridge in the background rises to the head of the valley - (from right) Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick and Thornthwaite Crag. There is a dusting of snow on the high ground.
