This Victorian villa gave its name to the more recent housing estate built in its grounds. The date on the right hand gatepost is MDCCCLXIX (1869). It was originally home of John Verity, millowner, whose son Kirk was born there in 1870 and lived until 1968; later home to Brow Dickinson, one of the brothers who owned the nearby boot factory. The address is now 56-62 Billingbaulk Drive, which suggests it has been subdivided into four apartments. Sources: LinkExternal link ; LinkExternal link
