The churchyard has several Commonwealth War Grave headstones, among them this one to a father and son who both perished in the Second World War: H W Russell of the Royal Artillery and his son H G Russell in the RAF.
Idle & Thorp

Idle and Thorp are two formerly separate villages north of Bradford. Nowadays they form part of the Bradford conurbation, and the name of Thorp is much less used locally than Idle (although it presumably gave its name to nearby Thorpe Edge). Together, they were formerly known as Idlethorp, and that is the title of a local history book by Wright Watson published in 1950, from a facsimile copy of which (ISBN 9 781 905 40846 8) I have quoted extracts in individual photo descriptions.

Holy Trinity, Idle

The parish church of this part of Bradford was built in 1828 in Gothic style, architect John Oates. It was reordered and extended c.1860, the churchyard being extended about the same time, and has been further reordered in recent years to accommodate a growing congregation. It is grade II listed (list entry 1314149). The building is on a gridline, so photos may appear here under either SE1737 or SE1738.
