Portsmouth: Spit Sand Fort
Spit Sand Fort is one of three similar structures to be found right in the middle of Spithead, the stretch of water that separates the eastern Isle of Wight from mainland Britain. These were built in the 1860s. This is the view from Southsea's Clarence Pier. Horse Sand Fort is beyond.
