SD6398 : Knowles from Linghaw

taken 4 years ago, near to Lowgill, Cumbria, England

Knowles from Linghaw
Knowles from Linghaw
The SW slopes of Linghaw form a convenient (if brutally steep) and relatively unpopulated route over CROW Access Land onto the Howgill Fells summit plateau from just north of Fairmile Gate. This paid off very well as a way up The Calf whilst maintaining a healthy hundred metre or so of social distancing most of the time. Sheep tracks are just developing into footpaths as we look back towards the transport corridor of the Lune valley with its noisy motorway and West Coast mainline railway and, to the southeast (behind the photographer) quite a good path to Fell Head materialised.
