Long Rigg Fold
Long Rigg Fold
Descending off-piste by virtue of the CROW Access Land status, we are dropping into the valley of Long Rigg Beck from the White Fell bridleway. A crossing of the Beck will gain us the sheep-tracks visible on the far side above Long Rigg Fold which, in turn, lead to a contouring route up Long Rigg Gill, to a crossing where it is a short ascent, again on faint tracks, to the col north of Brown Moor seen in the centre of the photo (and, it has to be said, looking mostly green from this direction). From that col, it is fairly straightforward to reach one of the few parking places on the Sedbergh to Low Borrowdale minor road, just north of Fairmile Gate.
