St Ann's Square, Garden of Statues (Manchester Flower Show)
The 2021 Manchester Flower Show took place between 29 May and 6 June. It was the city’s first major event after re-opening in mid-May following the national coronavirus lockdown. The show featured a city-wide trail of floral displays and green installations.
Garden of Statues was created by Northern Quarter florist FROG Flowers. This garden was inspired by “the grand monuments and leafy dreams of Parisienne parks”. It is sited around the monumental statue of radical MP Richard Cobden at the southern end of St Ann’s Square. Tall trees, twisted foliage, flowers in pots, a dash of colourful fake flowers and the addition of other statues dotted about bring a “Mancunian twist” to the theme.
