Dunston Staiths
Dunston Staiths
Seen during the 1990 Gateshead National Garden Festival. This amazing wooden structure was used for loading coal into colliers on the River Tyne but has since suffered arson attacks. This view is looking more or less to the east with the Tyne bridges in view but I am not sure exactly how far along the structure I was. However, another image suggest this collection of railway wagons was fairly near the end towards the bridges. Staithes may be variously spelt with or without an 'e' but the official website is for Dunston Staiths.
