HS2 will run beneath Long Itchington Wood in two tunnels. A tunnelling machine, brought from Germany in parts, is being reassembled on the level concrete floor of a huge void, excavated to allow the assembled machine to start tunnelling at the planned depth: hence all the spoil, left. Note the cranes in the distance. The viewpoint is Ridgeway Lane.
