SK3586 : Bears of Sheffield: #27 Botanical
taken 4 years ago, near to Sheffield, England

Artist Sarah Abbott has taken inspiration from the original location of the Bear sculpture on which the trail is inspired – the Bear pit in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens. Her design takes on a tropical form, the leaves and plants incorporated on the Bear’s surface make reference to the Botanical Gardens Glasshouse and the tropical plants that are housed there.
Bears of Sheffield is a public arts exhibition celebrating Sheffield and its surrounding area. Coordinated by The Children's Hospital Charity, the trail brings together businesses, communities, artists and schools whilst supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The Bears have been brought to life by artists of all ages, both professional and amateur, and they arrived in the city in July 2021.
The Bears of Sheffield showcases 60 large and 100 little bear sculptures in both indoor and outdoor locations.
The bears are raising funds through sponsorship and donations to help transform the Cancer and Leukaemia ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
