SK3587 : Bears of Sheffield: #18 City of Trees
taken 4 years ago, near to Sheffield, England

Sheffield is said to have more trees per capita than any other city in Europe, which artist Sue Guthrie believes is something to be extremely proud of, and wanted to celebrate with the design of her Bear sculpture. Amongst the colourful trees in the design, Sheffield’s historic buildings and places of interest are dotted throughout her Bear – the public can get involved interactively with this sculpture by trying to see how many of them they can spot.
Bears of Sheffield is a public arts exhibition celebrating Sheffield and its surrounding area. Coordinated by The Children's Hospital Charity, the trail brings together businesses, communities, artists and schools whilst supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The Bears have been brought to life by artists of all ages, both professional and amateur, and they arrived in the city in July 2021.
The Bears of Sheffield showcases 60 large and 100 little bear sculptures in both indoor and outdoor locations.
The bears are raising funds through sponsorship and donations to help transform the Cancer and Leukaemia ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
