SK3587 : Bears of Sheffield: #8 Steampunk Bear
taken 5 years ago, near to Sheffield, England

Victoria’s design for her Bear draws inspiration from Steampunk. Steampunk is often referred to as a futuristic yet retro style that incorporates technology and designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery.
Victoria’s Bear sculpture is depicted in a steel style armour which is a direct reference to Sheffield’s industrial roots, specifically the city’s world-famous steel production during the Industrial Revolution.
Bears of Sheffield is a public arts exhibition celebrating Sheffield and its surrounding area. Coordinated by The Children's Hospital Charity, the trail brings together businesses, communities, artists and schools whilst supporting Sheffield Children’s Hospital. The Bears have been brought to life by artists of all ages, both professional and amateur, and they arrived in the city in July 2021.
The Bears of Sheffield showcases 60 large and 100 little bear sculptures in both indoor and outdoor locations.
The bears are raising funds through sponsorship and donations to help transform the Cancer and Leukaemia ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
