Lower Lydbrook - Island in the River Wye
This little shingle bank forms an island in the River Wye (unless its water levels are high). There were a lot of canoes and paddle-boards navigating the Wye and they had to choose which side of this island to go - rapids on the far side or shallow with risk of grounding on this side. Most opted for the rapids.
It is to be found as the Wye passes Lower Lydbrook which takes its name from the Lyd Brook (origin: "Loud Brook") which threads its way through Upper & Lower Lydbrook and joins the Wye just to the west of this island.
