Allen Smelt Mill flue remains
Allen Smelt Mill flue remains
One of two lead smelt mill flues crossing moorland from Allendale, this one dating from 1835-37. The flue is some two-and-a-half miles in length. Despite being ruinous in sections, the incredible work of the stonemasons can still be appreciated.
