Norwich - Maid's Head Hotel
The Maid's Head Hotel is situated in the fork created by Wensum Street and Palace Street as they meet Tombland in Norwich near to the cathedral.
It is one of several hotels that claim to be the oldest in England; in this one's case, the bar is mentioned in city records dating from 1287, and a Norman architectural pillar suggests it may predate even that; though little of this ancient fabric remains. A framed declaration in the foyer proudly makes this claim. It is a very comfortable and pleasantly old-fashioned hotel - with TG2308 : Norwich - Maid's Head Bar at the Maid's Head Hotel being particularly alluring.
