Llanidloes Market Hall
Built between 1612-22 by Jenkins Lloyd of Berthlwyd, this grade I listed (1950) building is the only surviving timber-framed market hall in the country of Wales!
This was originally known as Booth Hall, a reference to the stalls or "booths" under and around the hall. John Wesley, founder of Methodism, preached at the hall in 1748, 1749 and 1764. The building stands in the centre of crossroads, those roads being Short Bridge Street (behind the hall), Great Oak Street (closest to camera) and the B4518 road (left-right). This housed the town museum from 1930-95, and currently houses a museum dedicated to timber-framed buildings as of 2021.
