The buildings of the shopping centre are now completely demolished and hoardings are about to go up around the site. The steps shown in SE2635 : "U look nice today, Kirkstall" remain for now.
The "granite setts" were probably whinstone quarried from here NZ5611 : Cliff rig quarry.
The quarry was owned by the Leeds Corporation and it's supposed that most of Leeds streets were cobbled with Great Ayton whinstone.
