Unusually the tower, which contains six bells, is at the east rather than west end.

A village church, built in 1893, architects Paley and Austin on the site of much earlier churches ( fragments of which from as early as the C12 are incorporated). Grade II* listed (list entry 1086928). Barbon became a separate parish in the late 19th century but is now part of the 'Rainbow parish' of eight churches in the diocese of Carlisle LinkExternal link .
