Barbon St Bartholomew - Lord and Lady Shuttleworth's memorial
Wooden panelling beneath the west window forms tribute to Ughtred James, 1st Baron Shuttleworth (1844-1939) and his wife Blanche (1851-1924) of Barbon Manor. I presume Lawrence and Edward named on the church's war memorial SD6382 : Barbon St Bartholomew - war memorial were their sons.
Barbon St Bartholomew
A village church, built in 1893, architects Paley and Austin on the site of much earlier churches ( fragments of which from as early as the C12 are incorporated). Grade II* listed (list entry 1086928). Barbon became a separate parish in the late 19th century but is now part of the 'Rainbow parish' of eight churches in the diocese of Carlisle Link
