Murals on the Werrington underpass at Cuckoo's Hollow
These murals on the Fulbridge Road subway at Cuckoo's Hollow in Werrington were painted between September and October 2020. They are themed around the area's natural environment and were inspired by around 300 photographs submitted by local residents. The project was initiated by local artist Nathan Murdoch and funded by the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation.
Formerly an area of pastureland, the Cuckoo's Hollow Country Park was created in the late 1970s and involved the excavation of an artificial lake, the planting of trees and bushes and the erection of wooden footbridges. The island in the middle of the lake now provides a breeding ground for ducks, swans and other waterfowl.
