SE1022 : Pylon on Plains Lane, Elland

taken 17 years ago, near to Elland, Calderdale, England

Pylon on Plains Lane, Elland
Pylon on Plains Lane, Elland
This pylon marks the end of the overhead high-voltage line. The electricity cables run down into the ground below the two basket-shaped platforms. Laying high-voltage cables underground is significantly more expensive than the normal overhead method. Why this has been done here is uncertain.
