Marked as 'Stand pipe' on earlier maps. The water used to go from here to the straining well NS5575 : Straining Well. According to Historic Environment Scotland LinkExternal link the masonry tower is '50ft high with valve openings at 3 levels below water, corbelled-out top, railings, valve mechanism inside and trussed iron footbridge connecting to embankment.'
