SJ6200 : Wenlock Priory - The sun bursts through an ancient window
taken 4 years ago, near to Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England

The substantial remains of Wenlock Priory lie to the east of the older part of the town of Much Wenlock. Most of the surviving ruins date from the C12th & C13th but a joint monastery, for both men and women, was first founded here as early as 670AD. Its second abbess was the Anglo-Saxon princess Milburga. She was later venerated as a saint, and when her remains were discovered in c.1100 the priory became a focal point for local pilgrimage.
The priory is managed by English Heritage and is open to the public - see Link
