St Mary the Virgin, Oxford: chancel and east window
St Mary the Virgin, Oxford: chancel and east window
The chancel dates from 1463, restored by Scott in 1861. When the church is open to tourists, the chancel is set aside for quiet reflection and prayer. Unusually for a medieval church, the east window is mainly plain glass: perhaps it was damaged in the War?
