The promenade was access only from here due to roadworks outside Daish's Hotel SD3036 : Road closure outside Daish's Hotel, North Promenade, Blackpool, about 200 metres further south. Despite the diversion sign taking drivers up on to Dickson Road, some chose to ignore it and bypassed the roadworks by driving on to the tramway!
