Church of St. John The Baptist, Werrington
A Grade I listed building, the Church of St. John The Baptist originally dates from the 12th. century with various additions in the 13th. and 14th. centuries. Restoration works were carried out in 1680, 1884 and 1901/02. I thought it looked particularly attractive on this occasion with the daffodils in bloom in the churchyard.
Originally a separate village, Werrington officially became a part of the city of Peterborough in 1929. The area has succeeded in retaining its village-like atmosphere despite extensive development and the encroachment of the city's urban sprawl.
