Cross-bedded Permian Sandstone
Cross-bedded Permian Sandstone
The sandstone exposed in the sea cliff above the railway line shows cross bedding patterns typical of rock formed from desert sand. These are the remnants of old sand dunes from around 300 to 350 million years ago.
