Old engine house at Dean Howl
This was built for the Healeyfield Lead Mine which operated here for a long time. The building housed a Cornish beam engine to raise men and equipment up and down the adjacent shaft. It was built some time in the 19th century and modified in 1884 to operate pumps for the mine. Healeyfield mine closed in 1891.
