Brownsea Island (also archaically known as Branksea) is the largest of the eight islands in Poole Harbour. The island is owned by the National Trust and much it is open to the public and includes areas of woodland and heath with a wide variety of wildlife. Access is by public ferry or private boat.

Poole Harbour

Poole Harbour has an area of approximately 36 square kilometres (14 sq mi) and is claimed to be the largest natural harbour in Europe. The harbour is extremely shallow (average depth: 48 cm), with one main dredged channel through the harbour, from the mouth to Holes Bay LinkExternal link
