Whalebone bridge
Whalebone bridge
This bridge over a ravine near Highcliffe Manor lies on the level path from the South Landing carpark to the clifftop. Its design is inspired by the ribcage of a whale. The west facing side of each rib (seen here) is inscribed with the name of a whaling boat - eg Northern Star, Prosperity, Ocean Gift, True Vine, Mary Ann, Silverline, Discovery, Excelsior, Sincerity, Imperialist.
