In the days prior to the GPS, navigation depended on good wind forecasts and the ability to keep a good update of the former. This was not always the case as many aviators found to their cost when entering an ever so solid cloud in the vicinity of St Kilda. A Beaufighter, A Sunderland and a Lancaster are three visitors to the islands who paid a single visit only. Requiescat in Pace!
