Looking along the connecting waterway between Blackwall Basin and Poplar Dock.
Blackwall Basin

The Blackwall Basin was built in 1800-02 by engineer William Jessop. It was the first non-tidal basin in the Port of London. Its locks were enlarged in the 1890s. It is now used for mooring pleasure boats and long-term houseboats. Listed grade 1 (list entry number 1242449).

Poplar Dock

This dock was formed out of a former East India Dock basin in 1850 as a commercial dock for the North London Railway. It is accessed by a lock on the north side of the Blackwall Basin. Now listed grade 2 (list entry number 1260060).
