SD5597 : A swing in need of adjustment
taken 3 years ago, near to Patton Bridge, Cumbria, England

The wall of the Ha-Ha of Shaw End in the background.
The Ha-Ha is not totally effective - earlier in the day half a dozen sheep were grazing on the lawn above it. Maybe somebody left a gate open, or they found a gap in a fence.
Shaw End is a Georgian mansion that was built in 1796. It was built for the Shepherd family, owners of local mills, who are recorded in the area as far back as the 1600s. The family owned the house into the 20th century, the last owner was Wellesley Shepherd, a distant cousin who inherited the property. There was a disastrous fire in the 1980's, which gutted the house. A few years later it was bought by the family who farmed the land around it. They spent several years restoring it, creating 4 apartments which are now available as holiday properties. I stayed there for the first time in September 2020, and loved the place.
