I expect these garages will get demolished soon.
Lock-up garages of Leeds

I've started photographing separate garages like these, as they are very much 'of their time' (mid 20th century) and seem to be among the first structures to get demolished when an area is being redeveloped.

They were a common way at one time of providing garage facilities, usually for residents of social housing who would not all be expected to have cars, but they could rent a garage if they did. There is a much higher expectation now of being able to park on or outside one's own property. Also, they are too small for contemporary vehicles such as SUVs and are often used only for general storage. This has led to a new problem of pavement parking where roads were not designed wide enough for on-street parking of large vehicles.
