Horse Shelter in field at Chipnall, near Cheswardine
Recent information now indicates that this building was probably NOT a horse gin, in which a horse walked round and round transferring power by mechanical means.

It is considerably more likely that this structure was erected as a shelter for horses and other livestock. It was made hexagonal so that mares and foals could not be trapped in a corner. The central structure of the building which supports the roof is insubstantial and unlikely ever to have been strong enough to support a horse gin.
