'Old Cappagh House', Cappagh, Co. Waterford (1)
According to the current owners of the later Cappagh House, the original Cappagh House was built 1800-1810 by Richard Ussher, which is at some variance with entries by the NIAH which says it was built by Arthur Ussher before 1778, and the Landed Estates register in the late C18. Now disused, the house forms the south part of a quadrangular plan that encloses the Stable Yard. A surprising characteristic of the central part of the house (between the adjacent crow stepped gables of the end bays), is that there should have been a second storey that was never completed - and it's not known why.
