Gates to Affane House, Affane, Co. Waterford (1)
Gates to nowhere, or so it seems; but beyond are the ruins of Affane House whose former demesne entrance was through this gateway. Dating probably from the first half of the C19, the gate piers have screen walls on either side with arched pedestrian openings.
The 'rule' around here (apparently) is that no one can view the ruin of Affane House, so don't bother asking permission. That's the reason there are no up to date pictures here, although the NIAH have recorded it in some detail:
