taken 3 years ago, near to Aston, Hertfordshire, England

Stevenage was the first new town to be designated under the New Towns Act in 1946, to provide housing and employment for people moving out from overcrowded conditions in London. Previously a large village dating back at least as far as the Domesday Book in the 11th Century, development of the new town started in earnest during the 1950s.
The town's shopping precinct, opened in 1959, was the first purpose-built pedestrianised shopping area in the UK.
Stevenage was designed with motor traffic in mind. The town has an extensive network of segregated pedestrian and cycle paths.
