These are what were the southern arches of the Infirmary of the Benedictine Abbey of St Peter's Abbey, today's Gloucester Cathedral. The northern arches were lost many years ago. These arches were the subject of the first picture to be uploaded in this grid square in 2005, in fact it was only the third picture to be uploaded to the then new Geograph website SO8318 : Arches near Gloucester Cathedral.
