Disappointing sign on seat on the banks for The River North Tyne
Since our last visit in 2008 the seat has either been replaced or repainted with the addition of a disappointing sign. Even more alarming, if you look to the far bank just on the water's edge there appears to be a trap. The previous week (1st February) we'd had lunch on the opposite bank and we saw an otter enter the water almost at the spot where this seat is. Needless to say it was the highlight of the day. Is this an otter trap? The side where the trap is, is owned by Haughton Castle; the side we're viewing the trap from is owned by Chipchase Castle. I'm sure landowners would claim this is a mink trap but how sure can one be that they would release an Otter alive if one entered the trap?
A zoom photo of the trap is also entered in this OS Grid Square.
