Geograph - photograph every grid square

An area of about 89 ha, between Turnhouse and West Craigs Industrial Estate, is now being developed as a housing estate, with a range of 2-4 bedroom houses, of all types – detached, semi-detached and flats - with at least two builders involved, Barratt and Taylor-Wimpey. Planning permission is for a maximum of 1400 residential ‘units’, ancillary commercial development, a primary school and open spaces [Planning application 18/01393/PPP]. Work began on the site in January 2021; see NT1773 : West Craigs Construction Compound and two others by Graeme Yuill. I have known the area since the mid-1960s and, as far as I recall, it was never prime agricultural land, but it was part of Edinburgh’s Green Belt, which is gradually being eroded.
