St. Peter on the Wall
St. Peter on the Wall
This chapel was built in 654AD by St Cedd. The stones are actually taken from a 3rd century Roman camp which stood on this site. A small building has been constructed near the chapel with seating area for walkers and pilgrims. A bird hide can be seen between the two buildings - the nearby marshes are rich with bird life.
