Grade II Listed with Boots (56-58) next door. Early 19th century with modern shop fronts. To the rear it has a central dormer that appears to be an access door to the loft at high level (as you may find at a mill). By 1991 54 seems to be a coffee shop and 54a (on the first floor) is listed as Mines Advisory Group. However planning approved conversion of 54 in 1998 from building society to bakery (Greggs?). In 2004 54 is identified as Greggs that appears to have a new shop front in 2008. In 2022 Quills applied for a sign over the passage door. An application for a new shop front was approved for no.52 in 1975. In 1999 change of use for 52 was granted from vacant retail shop to financial and professional services. A new shop front was approved in 2010 for no.52. Based on Street View, 52 was Tiffen & Co. in April 2009 and boarded up in April the next year presumably for the new shop front. By May 2017 it was Craig Travel and empty in October 2021. Oak Tree Animals Charity was there by July 2022.
