Roofless stand these ancient walls - Kiltinan, County Tipperary
These ancient walls of 12th century origin stand roofless in County Tipperary beside the R706 (Regional) road between Fethard S2034 and Kilsheelan S2823. There are two grave slabs and an attached cemetery, the gravestones of which have been recorded by volunteers. There was here a sheila na gig, a stone carving of a female figure, but this was stolen in 1990 and has not yet been recovered. The origins of these figures are lost in the mists of time. To the east stands Kiltinan Castle, dating from the early 13th century, and is the oldest inhabited castle in Ireland. Time photo taken not available.
