The lychgate is a memorial to the fallen carved within. 14 died in WW1 and 14 died in WW2. The architect was J H Martindale FRIBA, the wood carver Thomas Lawson and builder McKnight and Sons. It was dedicated on 10th July 1921 in the presence of the Bishop of Carlisle. In 2009 War Memorials Trust gave a grant of £2,058 towards conservation and repair works to the memorial. At the same time a new oak memorial plaque to record the name of Corporal Sarah Bryant who died in Afghanistan in 2008 was added to the memorial.
